About

After completing his studies at the École Supérieure d’Art in Northern France, Michel Jocaille is now based in Paris, where he is currently an artist-in-residence at POUSH. Jocaille’s work focuses on questions of gender and fluidity. He plays with good taste and draws popular and drag mythologies. With a lightness heavy with meaning, the artist diverts poor materials to reverse the aesthetic downgrading orchestrated by capitalism. His grammar of kitsch and camp is made up of paraffin-embedded artificial flowers, engraved fluffy textures, accumulations of everyday objects, rhinestones, false nails and piercings.

Miche's Work

His works have been shown at the French Institute of Rome (IT), Collection Lambert in Avignon (FR), Galerie Les filles du Calvaire in Paris (FR), in IRL Gallery NYC (US) and Herbert Gerish Stiftung foundation (DE).

Jocaille engages with installations in a broad spectrum of scales and formats. Through this approach, he delves into a deep formal and theoretical exploration aimed at dismantling hierarchies within discourses, subverting classifications, and challenging conventional representations
